UID : How to Apply for Aadhar

Though the Aadhar initiative was moving at a steady pace earlier; it has now picked speed in enrollment as well as enforcement. Indian government has decided to make Aadhar mandatory for various government processes. Eg. Marriage Certificate Registration process makes Aadhar mandatory for husband, wife and witness.

In terms of application, Aadhar has the simplest procedure of all. This document describes my experience for Aadhar enrollment.

  1. Checkout the nearest enrollment center from the following linkThere is a center in C.P, New Delhi as listed on website.
  2. Also, Aadhar has setup some basic infrastructure for enrollment at Voter Card Registration office, RTO, SDM office.
  3. You can visit any of these for enrollment.
  4. Before visiting, download the form at the following link and fill it up.
  5. Attach copy of your ID & Address proof. Eg. Voter card/DL suffices for ID as well as Address proof.
  6. Visit the centre. Most centers function from 10:00 AM – 05:00 PM.
  7. Submit the filled application form.
  8. You will receive a token.
  9. All forms are submitted for the day by 11:00 AM and respective tokens are issued.
  10. Post 11:00 AM, enrollment starts and all data including biometric is captured.
  11. Acknowledgement slip is given to candidate.
  12. Refer it for tracking status.

  2. Hey,

Just to add to the above post, if you reside anywhere near CP, there is an aadhaar centre at Gol Dakkhana, CP near Patel Chowk Metro Station. The centre is not visited by many people and you would take anywhere between 10-20 mins to get the aadhaar enrollment number.

    • Thanks Chetan.
This certainly useful and there are some details about it on the official website as well.
However, i will add this to the post as well. 🙂

  5. for older than five year, CBSE documents get shift to Ajmer.
Therefore you need to go to Ajmer and get your duplicate one.
I did this for my younger brother way back in 2001.
